CEREC
DENTAL RESTORATION IN 1 APPOINTMENT
Modern dental technologies offer us the opportunity to provide precise, efficient care, while allowing our patients to spend less time in the dentist's chair. These include CEREC technology, which enables us to design dental crowns, bridges and other restorations in just one appointment.

WHAT IS CEREC TECHNOLOGY?
CEREC stands for "Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics". This revolutionary technology enables our dental clinic to design and fabricate ceramic and zirconia crowns and restorations quickly and efficiently, all in a single appointment.
Simply put, CEREC eliminates the need for multiple visits to place crowns or restorations. Thanks to a 3D scanner and advanced software, we can create custom restorations directly in our clinic, without the need for an external laboratory. This means less time in the chair and outstanding esthetic results.
We use CEREC technology to fabricate the following dental restorations:
- Dental crown: this is a restoration to cover a damaged or worn tooth, or to overcome a single dental implant to replace a missing tooth.
- Dental bridge: installed over natural teeth or two dental implants, a bridge replaces a missing tooth or an adjacent section of the dentition.
- Dental inlay/onlay: inlays and onlays are used to replace part of a tooth that has been damaged by decay, trauma or other factors.
WHAT ARE THE PRODUCTION STEPS?
CEREC's main distinguishing feature is that it allows your Vaudreuil-Dorion dentist and dental team to carry out the entire process directly in the clinic. Since we don't use an external laboratory, we don't need to install a crown or temporary restoration. Secondly, a single visit means a single anesthetic for the patient, as well as considerable time savings.
Find out how the design and manufacturing process of your dental restorations works with CEREC technology:
1. 3D impressions: It all starts with digital impressions of your teeth using an intraoral scanner. This cutting-edge technology eliminates the need for traditional molds and offers unrivalled precision.
2. Modeling: Once the digital impressions have been taken, our team uses specialized software to design your custom dental restoration. You can even view a digital representation of your new crown or bridge before it is fabricated.
3. CEREC robot fabrication: Once the model is ready, the data is sent to our CEREC robot, which precisely carves your crown or restoration from a block of high-quality ceramic or zirconia. The milling process is fast and precise, guaranteeing a perfect fit to your tooth.
4. Cementing the restoration: Once your crown or restoration is ready, it is installed on the tooth or part of the dentition that has been prepared by the dentist. It is then cemented in place.
5. Final adjustments: Any necessary adjustments are made to ensure perfect integration of the restoration, both aesthetically and in terms of comfort.
WHY USE A CEREC DENTAL RESTORATION?
As the name suggests, the purpose of a crown, bridge or inlay is to restore the function of a damaged, worn or missing tooth. Their installation solidifies the tooth in question, while protecting it from potential damage. What's more, if it's used to replace one or more missing teeth, restoration will of course restore better chewing functions to the dentition, as well as a uniform appearance to the smile.
In all cases, a thorough examination by a qualified dentist will help clarify the patient's oral needs. If this proves to be the best solution, a CEREC restoration will be recommended.
