Repair a baby teeth

Why fix a cavity on a baby tooth? It’s gonna fall out anyway!

True, your child will start loosing baby teeth as of the age of six. But some of the baby teeth will remain until the age of twelve! Thus, a broken or decayed baby tooth that is not fixed on time may cause pain, get infected and even have an abcess.

In order to repair a baby tooth, the dentist will eliminate the decay and fill the tooth with a white composite resin material. This will salvage the tooth and permit it to remain pain free until it is time for it to fall out and replaced by the underlying adult tooth.

If the tooth is not repaired, the decay might destroy more of the tooth and a premature extraction might be the only solution. If this is the case, a space maintainer is recommended to prevent migration of the surrounding teeth and keep the space available for the underlying adult tooth.
